WHAT TIME IS FAIRYLAND OPEN?

Fairyland will be held from the 12th December 2019 until 5th January 2020.

  • Sunday to Thursday from 10am till 10pm,
  • Friday and Saturday from 10am till 11.30pm,
  • Christmas Eve from 10am till 1.00am,
  • New Year’s Eve from 10am till 2.00am
  • Christmas and New Year’s Day from 3pm till 10pm.

HOW CAN WE GET TO FAIRYLAND?

Fairyland is located in Valletta and Floriana. With most of its attractions spread around the Triton Fountain and its vicinity.
Fairyland is located exactly in the drop-off zone of all centre Public Transport leading to Valletta.

For all those travelling by car, several Car Parks are available around the area.

DO I HAVE TO PAY TO GET INTO FAIRYLAND?

No! Fairyland has no admission fee; you only pay for the attractions you choose.

You will need tickets for the rides which will be available from the ticket booths on site. Tickets are to be used once on each attraction. All ticket booths will accept Cash & Card payments only.

Please note that tickets are not refundable or exchangeable. See Ticketing and Concessions (below) for further details.

Skate hire is included in the Penguin’s Ice Rink ticket price.

Ice rink spectator areas are free to access.

HOW LONG DO THE ATTRACTIONS LAST FOR?

  • Penguin’s Ice Rink sessions are 50 minutes in duration, kindly arrive 20 minutes prior to the session timings to get your skates on!)
  • Rudolph’s Big Wheel lasts for 10 minutes.
  • Other attractions may take up to 5 minutes.

IS THERE A CLOAKROOM AT THE ICE RINK?

There is a cloakroom for bags and items not permitted onto the ice. The cost is 1Euro per item/bag.

CAN I USE THE CLOAKROOM IF I’M NOT ICE SKATING?

No, the cloakroom facility is for ice skaters only.

HOW DO I GET ON THE OTHER RIDES AND ATTRACTIONS?

These rides and attractions are accessed by Fairyland tickets, available from the ticket booths dotted around the Fairyland site. Ride tickets can be used once throughout the duration of the whole event.

Be sure to arrive no later than 15 minutes before closing of each day to get on your favourite rides (excluding the Penguin’s Ice Rink) as all close promptly. Be sure to arrive 1 hour 10 minutes prior to closing time in the case of the Penguin’s Ice Rink.

HOW MUCH DO THE TICKETS/RIDES COST?

  • Rudolph’s Big Wheel – Adult: €6.00 and Child: €3.00
  • Santa’s Magical Carousel – 1 ride: €2.50 and 2 rides: €4.00
  • Elf’s Train – 1 ride: €2.50 and 2 rides: €4.00
  • Virtual Polar Saber – 1 Game Song: €2.50
  • Penguin’s Ice Rink – Adult: €15.00, Child: €10.00 and for a Penguin: €5.00
  • Santa’s Grotto – 1 Photo and 1 Present: €12.00 and 2 Photos and 2 Presents: €22.00

Please remember, tickets can only be used once throughout the whole event – they are not exchangeable or refundable.

WHAT ABOUT FOOD, DRINK AND SHOPPING?

All of the many bars, cafes, restaurants and shops accept cash, and some accept cards. Food and drink prices vary depending on whether it’s a table service indoor restaurant or take-away chalet, but we hope we have provided for all tastes and budgets.

The Christmas markets feature over 20 stalls from handmade crafts to luxury gifts and culinary pleasures for all your Christmas shopping needs!

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

Yes! Dogs are permitted at Fairyland, however, must be on a leash and controlled at ALL TIMES. Dogs are not permitted into any attractions, with the exception of certified assistance dogs.

Please Note: Fairyland can be very busy, especially at weekends, and therefore may not be a suitable environment for some dogs.

WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO SEE FATHER CHRISTMAS?

In order to meet Father Christmas a ticket needs to be bought from the above-mentioned ticket booths, with this said, the ticket includes a professional special photo by our official photographer as well as a present from Father Christmas himself!

Father Christmas and his elves welcome children to his grotto every day from 10am till 2pm and 5pm till 9pm, weather permitting, with the exception of Christmas Day when he is pretty busy delivering presents around the world! He returns on Boxing Day right through to the 30th December saying his good bye’s before heading back to the North Pole!

Please note that at peak times, we may need to close the queue early to ensure Father Christmas gets to see everybody with a ticket, before he has to go and feed his reindeers.

Tickets can be used any day of the event.

IS FATHER CHRISTMAS AT FAIRYLAND REAL?!

We suggest that you come and say Hello yourself! He will be very pleased to see you together with his Elves. Nice presents will be given to all those that were very good this year!

WHAT AGE IS FAIRYLAND AIMED AT?

Fairyland is aimed for everyone. We often welcome three generations of families together for a day out! There are rides and attractions for children as young as 2, with more rides for the older ones. We have two shows which are spectacular for families.

Safety at Fairyland

The safety and comfort of our visitors is a priority. Fairyland has a management safety plan in place, which has been implemented by our event health and safety consultants and the Malta Police Force

Prohibited Items

The following ITEMS must not be brought into the Event or on any of the attractions:

  • Knives
  • Fireworks
  • Smoke canisters
  • Air-horns
  • Flares
  • Weapons
  • Dangerous or hazardous items
  • Laser devices
  • Poles
  • Selfie-Sticks
  • Drones
  • Any items that might be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety.

Any person in possession of such items will be exposed for prosecution according to Maltese Laws.

Any items that might be used as a weapon, be deemed to be offensive or abusive, or compromise public safety, will be confiscated and or reported to the police.

CAN CHILDREN BE UNACCOMPANIED?

At Fairyland a child is classed as 12 years and under. No children will be admitted to the event unless accompanied by a person aged 16 years or over. Children must always remain under the supervision of such a person. The site and attraction managers reserve the right to determine the ratio of adults in relation to children required for adequate supervision.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS TOO WINTERY AT FAIRYLAND?

Fairyland is an outdoor event so make sure you dress appropriately as we will be open in rain, wind or shine!

There are many benches throughout the site for you to rest your legs whilst soaking up the festive spirit!

ICE RINK ADVISORY

Ice skating can be hazardous. The use of the Ice Rink is entirely at your own risk. Fairyland is not responsible for any injuries arising from your use of the Ice Rink. Skaters must follow the instructions of the marshals at all times. The Rink Manager reserves the right to remove those deemed as a risk to the safety of others.

The Ice Rink operates in all conditions – please bring suitable clothing as no refunds will be given due to inclement weather.

It is a good idea to bring a change of socks on wet days.

Children of 12 years or under must be accompanied on the ice and remain under the control or supervision of a person of 16 years or over at all times.

The Rink Manager reserves the right to determine the ratio of adults in relation to children required for adequate supervision.

DRINKING ALCOHOL AT FAIRYLAND.

When purchasing alcohol at the Event, a means of identification must be shown.

Ticketing & Concessions

HOW CAN I PURCHASE A TICKET?

Tickets can be bought from the several Ticket Booths next to each attraction as well as from the two General Ticket Booths near Triton Fountain Area. From the two General Ticket Booths all attraction tickets can be purchased via Cash or Card.

There are no time slots for Fairyland attractions. The attractions operate on a queuing basis post purchasing the attractions’ ticket.

The Rudolph’s Big Wheel operates on the queuing basis where you purchase a ticket before joining the queue. The Rudolph’s Big Wheel pods are loaded 5 at a time with a maximum of 6 people per pod.

CAN I GET A REFUND OR EXCHANGE MY TICKETS?

Tickets are non-exchangeable, non-transferrable and non-refundable.

HOW DO I GET MY TICKETS?

WHAT IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY TICKET?

If you purchased your ticket from a Fairyland Ticket Booth, please contact our Info Point Ticket booth. Remember, you must bring your ticket with you in order to enter the attractions.

ARE THERE DISCOUNTS FOR GROUP BOOKINGS?

No.

CAN I BUY A ‘PRIVATE POD’ ON RUDOLPH’S BIG WHEEL?

No.

I HAVE A TODDLER / BABY. DOES THIS APPLY TO THEM?

Children under 3 will not need a ticket for Rudolph’s Big Wheel & Santa’s Magical Carousel if they don’t occupy a seat (when sitting on an adult’s lap). Should your child prefer their own seat, this will need to be purchased at a child price.

However, you will need to purchase a child ticket for the Elf’s Train, since the attraction is used by children solely.

WHAT TICKET(S) SHOULD I PURCHASE FOR MY CHILD?

At Fairyland, we class a child as 12 years and under. Whilst the event is suitable for children of all ages, children must be accompanied at all times by a person 16 years or over. Please note that some rides and attractions have height and weight restrictions.

A child ticket must be purchased for all attractions unless stated below.

There is age restriction for the Penguin’s Ice Skating & Virtual Polar Saber.

Ice Skates

ICE SKATES

The minimum skate size on the rink is a children’s size 9 and maximum is an adult size 13 (with limited supply of size 15). Skate Hire is included in the Ice-Skating ticket price, but you are also encouraged to bring your own skates, subject to suitability checks (note – speed skates are NOT allowed).  We do recommend bringing a spare pair of socks on wet days and please ensure that your skates fit properly before taking to the ice, staff will be on hand to assist.

Ice skating can be hazardous. The use of the Ice Rink is entirely at your own risk. Fairyland is not responsible for any injuries arising from your use of the Ice Rink.

THE TINIEST OF FEET

We do provide double-bladed skates for the tiniest of feet, but these are on a ‘first-come first-served’ basis.

DO WE PROVIDE PENGUINS AIDS ON THE ICE RINK?

We do have a limited number of penguin aids for the ice rink.  The hire cost is 5.00Eur per penguin per session and are STRICTLY on a first come first serve basis.  We suggest making sure you arrive at least 20 minutes before your session to avoid disappointment.

Accessibility

WHAT FACILITIES DO YOU HAVE FOR BABIES?

Most of Fairyland is has a flat level flooring which is buggies friendly.

We also have a Chill Space located in Santa’s Favourite Chalet near Tritoni.

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE SUITABLE FOR VISITORS WITH LIMITED MOBILITY?

Wherever possible we tried to make access throughout the area as easy as possible. Rudolph’s Big Wheel is wheelchair accessible. We have also tried to make our eating and drinking areas as accessible as possible as well.

Although we will always try to be as fully inclusive as we possibly can at Fairyland, certain rides in the event are physically demanding and vigorous. Fairyland therefore reserves the right to refuse admission to any ride or attraction should we feel that there is an unacceptable risk to your safety, or the safety of others should they participate.

WHERE DO WE PARK?

There are several Car Park’s available in the surrounding areas around Floriana and Valletta.

IS THERE PERSONS WITH DISABILITY PARKINGS?

Yes, there are several Car Park’s available in the surrounding areas with special Disabled Parking’s available.

DO YOU HAVE PERSONS WITH DISABILTY TOILETS?

Accessible toilets are available at our toilet blocks throughout the venue.

Photography and filming

Photography and filming on site at Fairyland are allowed for personal use only.

Commercial or editorial photography or filming accreditation requests should go via our office in advance of arriving. Please email events@visitmalta.com

All amateur photographers or film makers must also request permission to photograph or film at the event by email on events@visitmalta.com in advance of arriving on site.

CAN I TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS ON THE ICE RINK?

For safety reasons, you are not allowed to take photographs whilst on the ice rink. However, spectators can take photos of you from the viewing platforms around the rink.

Sustainability Policy

Visitors are strongly encouraged to travel to Fairyland by public transport.

Fairyland will provide suitable facilities for visitors, traders and operators to recycle their waste. Power, lighting and water usage is kept to a minimum through careful planning.

Traders and operators are encouraged to produce products from sustainable sources where possible and the vast majority of the Fairyland infrastructure is permanent or reused year after year.

Fairyland uses local staff and crew where possible and encourage traders and operators to do the same.
